Happy New Music Monday! I’m only a little embarrassed to admit this song has been on repeat for a week. The album just dropped on Friday after a 2 year wait! I’m enjoying the new tunes. However, I do feel the songs have been a bit overworked and have lost a bit of the rock/funk grit I’ve come accustomed to. I guess I’ll have to see these tracks played live 🙂
Regardless, this song still resonates the most (even after all the overplay done by yours truly). Maybe because to me, this track is about knowing you have to let something go in order to make room for something that will better serve you.
Letting go. It’s really hard to do.
In yoga we’re constantly letting go. Letting go of the breath to make room for the space we’ve created. Letting go of the tension you carry with you. Letting go of the preconceived notions of right ways, wrong way and judgements. Most importantly, letting go of fear.
Now I’ve come back down, I’m older // I look for something else to hold on to.
Sometimes its hard to bring these insights into all aspects of life. I personally find myself holding on. Sometimes I literally find myself holding my breath, holding on to hope, judgements and beliefs — this isn’t helpful at all. Why keep holding on? Open yourself up to living with passion, and infinite, unconditional love.
